Who fasts?

It is said that one must fast if they are an adult Muslim who is not traveling and is physically able to do so. Women are not allowed to if they are pregnant of menstruating.

What is Sawm?

Sawm is the Muslim obligation to fast, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. In Islam, fasting only takes place in the time between sunrise and sunset.

What are they?

The Five Pillars serve as a basic framework for living a Muslim life. They are the most important Muslim practices.

Why do Muslims fast?
