- India is the seventh-largest country in the world

- Lies on the Indian Plate, one of the major tectonic plates

- Area is about 3.28 million sq. km

- Borders the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal

- Since India is near the equator, the temperatures usually are in the warmer degrees

- Has the Himalayan Mountains forming a border between India and China

- India's Ganges River serves important roles in the economic and cultural ways

- Highest land elevation is Kanchenjunga

- India covers 2.4% of the total geographical area of the world

- Has the Palk Strait and Gulf of Manner separating India from Sri Lanka

- India has around 23 languages in all so far

- India's official languages include Hindi and English

- Every language made came each from a family, which include seven

  • Indo-Aryan language family
  • Dravidian language family
  • Austroasiatic language family
  • Sino-Tibetan language family
  • Tai–Kadai language family
  • Great Andamanese languages

- Long ago, in India, the people following the Hindu would follow a traditional customs of the caste system. This system determines your rank and what jobs you could do

1- This is India's Geography as seen through a satellite

- For Women, most of them wear the traditional sari while men wear Kurtas

- Henna is a body art paint that is a common custom that women do, mostly for festivals or weddings

- Current population is 1.342 billion people

- Major populated cities are New Delhi and Mumbai, yet still most of the population are located around the Ganges River

- At the same time, religions like Islam, Christianity, and Judaism are seen in certain areas of India

Practices/Rituals

- In certain parts of India, Traditional weddings are held under the Hindu religion

- Other parts of India pray 5 times a day, by the Islam religion, and fast during Ramadan

- Finally, once a person has passed away, there is a belief that the soul is then carried on into a new body.

Ethnic Groups

- With ethnic groups, there are at least 57 subcategories

- The most common ethnic groups share the common fact that they either believe in reincarnation, or believe in the Caste system

- Also, different ethnic groups are found in different areas in India based on the amount of holiness found in the are that acts according to their ways
