In 1999, the last US ship to shore telegraph was transmitted from the SS Jeremiah O'Brien to President Bill Clinton, which was later emailed to the White House.

In 1896, the first wireless telegraph was built by Guglielmo Marconi in Italy

In 1985, both the first public email service and the first computer fax board became available to the public. Both of these contributions expedited the stop of using the telegraph.

In 1965, both the internet and the email were invented. Both of these innovations led to the retirement of the telegraph.
