A golgi apparatus stores, packages, and transports materials. On a cruise ship waiters carry food and transport or serve it to the passengers.
Mitochondria
The mitochondria in a cell is like the engine room on a cruise ship. The mitochondria makes energy for the cell, just like the engine room makes energy for the ship to move. They both give power for the energy source.
DNA is similar to a nautical map in a ship. DNA contains genetic information and instructions to construct cell components. A nautical chart on a ship gives the captain information about water depths, dangerous locations, and other features to help the captain.

The Vacuole of a cell is only found in a plant cell. The vacuole is used to store enzymes and wastes. The storage room on a cruise ship is just like the vacuole in a cell. They both store things such as enzymes, and wastes that are easy to reach.
The Nucleus of a cell controls everything that is happening in it. Just like the captain of the cruise ship. The captain controls and makes decisions for the things happening on the ship.
The Cell Wall is only found in a plant cell. It supports and protects the cell. On a cruise ship the cell wall can be compared to the bow of a cruise ship. The bow cuts through, and pushes off the water . just like the cell wall protects the cell and gives it support.
Chloroplast is only found in plant cells. This is where photosynthesis takes place, or where sunlight is converted into usable energy. On cruise ships there are solar panels. Solar panels also take sunlight and convert it into energy.
The doors on a cruise ship are like the cell membrane in the cell because the doors let people in and out. Just like the doors on the ship, a cell membrane’s function is to allow good things to come in and bad or unwanted things to stay out.
Lysosomes are only found in animal cells. Lysosomes in a cell contain enzymes, which digest proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, DNA, & RNA. A janitor on a cruise ship can be compared to lysosomes in a cell because they both get rid of waste and unwanted products.
