Communicating by touch can be interpreted in many different ways
Communicating with body movement mainly consists
of gestures. They are commonly used in conversations. Certain
gestures can be classified by some of the following types:
This form of nonverbal communication consists of body
posture and positioning.
The following are the main components of positioning:
-Intimate: touching to 10 inches. For close friends and family.
-Casual-personal: 18 inches to four feet: Informal conversation with friends.
-Social-consultative: four to twelve feet: formal transactions.
-Public: Addressing groups of people.
The posture of the body is basically the way it is held. Slouching and sitting upright are
the main postures. They can help envoke emotions.
The next time you are having a conversation....
Pay attention to the facial expressions of the person
you are talking to for a deeper meaning
of the eyes, and the movement of the mouth. You will often notice
that facial expressions usually occur as a reaction to something else.
