Yes. There were many conflicts in the story. Doug dealt with an violent father and Lucas had to live without his legs and Lil was hospitalized with a 1 in 4 survival rate.

Falling Action
After Doug's father becomes a nicer husband and father, Doug convinces Lil that she'll be okay and that stats don't mean anything and they watch the Apollo 11 blast off for the moon.
Doug's brother Lucas comes home from the war. He lost his legs and is blind.
Christopher is proven innocent of breaking into the hardware store and Spicer's Deli.

Climax
Doug goes to the library and finds a book full of bird drawings by John James Audubon. Mr. Powell, a librarian, starts teaching him to draw.
When Doug realizes that the Town Council is selling pages of Audubon's book he makes it his mission to get them back. He gets all of them except for one. He got two of them by agreeing to preform in a play with his girlfriend Lil. However before the show Lil gets sick and has to go to the hospital.
Doug's brother Christopher is accused of breaking into Spicer's Deli and a hardware store.
Setting and Exposition
This book is set in the Wednesday Wars world
and is set in 1968-1969. In the story Doug Swieteck just moved to Marysville because his dad got a job at the Ballard Paper Mill.
