Geography

Treaty of Paris

  • A document signed on September 3, 1783.
  • It ended the American Revolutionary war between Great Britain and the United States of America.

Geography In The War

  • New England:

The terrain was rugged and difficult. It was rocky and cold in the winter. This was a problem because Britain had to send as well as supply the troops across the Atlantic. This put a big strain of time, energy, and money ferrying the soldiers

  • America and the South:

Summers were hot and humid. However, Valley Forge had a series of moderate to severe winters.

Americans Hinder

> The Patriots made it harder to protect the Loyalists because of the vast countryside

> The Americans ambushed the British by retreating and regrouping

> Americans had the chance to govern themselves, so that they didn't have to pay England's taxes. Therefore, effecting New England.

Motivation

It All Starts With Better Leadership

> Washington's troops learned from their mistakes

> America never gave up, despite difficulties

CONFIDENCE.

- Americans dreamed of liberty

- Induced (motivated) to fight

- The British had low spirits about winning, unlike the Americans who had high outlooks

British Soldiers

We can do this.

> Washington also dragged out the war to wear down the British

We shall not give up!

American Soldiers

  • The British soldiers wore red coats and white pants. Often called "lobsterbacks" and "redcoats"

  • The American soldiers wore blue suits, a hat, and linen trousers

  • At the beginning of the war, the Americans used pistols, and rifles
  • Slowly, they transitioned merchant ships into war ships
  • The British however, used "Brown Bess," a musket that fired one-ounce lead balls. Fancy!

Weapons

Knowledge of the Land

- The war was in almost all the American states
