She was born in Dickinson, North Dakota.
She recieved the Barter Award in 1940.
Dorothy Hay Stickney was one of the great leading ladies of the ligitamate theater.
Stickney made her broadway debut in 1926 in The Squall.
Stickney is also the author of a number of poems including Your Not The Type and My Dressing Room.
She attended Northwestern Dramatic School in Minneapolis.
