Info About The Shuttle

> The Columbian Space Shuttle construction began on Columbia in 1975 at Rockwell International's, and it's first flight was April 12, 1981. This shuttle had 28 missions counting the devastating one that was the last flight of it which caused the death of 7 crew members. This shuttle traveled 201,497,772 km (125,204,911 miles) orbited the Earth 4,808 times and spent 300 days in space.

Space Columbia Disaster Questions

> What were the ethical issues involved?

The space shuttle actually had many issues and was behind schedule by two years for repair and the repairing of satellites as well as space stations. And the main reason of this disaster was the failure of inspection. The failure was that a suitcase size piece of foam fell off which this was the main cause of the disaster which also hit the left wing causing this problem to escalate. This part of the structure of the shuttle supplied the tank with thermal heat, and as well as gasses nor heat to escape. As this was also originally designed to reduce aerodynamic stresses around the bipod attachment points at the external tank, but it was proven unnecessary in the wake of the accident and was removed from the external tank design for tanks flown.

> Poor material choice?

I do believe so in my opinion as this was a problem on the previous

shuttles such as the Challenger which also ended as disaster. As

even said they think the material is a failure and they have tested it.

To this could have been prevented several times. But till this was

another reason that US agencies got involved after the incident to

see if precautions were being taken. As this this, this is another

reason that space shuttle missions were canceled for the safety of

our astronauts.

> Could of this been prevented?

Without a doubt, but the bravery of these astronauts knowing that there was a problem and still doing the mission was honorable. It's hard to blame anyone yet there is someone, knowing what this type of machine can do they just let let millions of dollars go to waste s well as lives and the space programs. Just for not repairing nor checking the shuttle before the flight.
