Aviation; (Av) "Above The Best"
Aviation is a combat arms branch which encompasses 80 percent of the commissioned officer operational flying positions within the Army. Army Aviation is concerned with the accomplishment of the assigned mission to conduct prompt and sustained combat operations. Upon completion of flight training, the newly rated officer can expect challenging leadership positions with aviation units.
A Few Facts;
Aviation combat missions include: attack, cavalry, air assault, special operations and air combat. Combat support missions include: communications, intelligence & electronic warfare, combat search and rescue and aerial mine warfare. Aviation officers are knowledgeable in employment, capabilities and planning considerations for each of these diverse missions.
