famous examples of these tribes are:

Hence ordinary people, animals and places are used in stories ( myths , legends and beliefs) Often the people are not even named, such as Rabbit Boy – raised by rabbits. Nor, is there much attempt to characterize them.

Whereas Greek myths were shaped and ordered by classical authors, few Native American myths were written down before the late 19th century.Native American myths include all the types found worldwide, such as stories of creation, and of heroic journeys. However, they are particularly rich in ‘trickster’ myths.

Myths: Traditional, typically ancient stories dealing with supernatural beings, or heroes that save someone. .Legends: stories handed down from earlier times, especially those popularly believed to be historical.

Myths/ legends are written for children and adults. Many Native American myths could equally be called folktales: they seem to be about ordinary people, not gods. However, the Native American attitude is that everything is animated.

Many different tribal groups each developed their own stories about the creation of the world

There are over 160 legends belonging to native amercans.
