  • The death of emporor Hailie Selassie I was a hoax and he is still alive awaiting judgment day.
  • They do not believe in an after life but think of Africa as heaven on earth.
  • True rastas are thaught to be immortal physicaly and spiritualy this is a concept called everliving

Marijuana

  • also refered to as ganja, the holy herb, Iley or callie.
  • Rastas use Ganja because of its scriptural support such as Psalm 104:14: "He causeth the grass for the cattle and herb for the service of man." and others
  • Rastas use ganja as part of thier two major rituals nyabingi and reasoning.
  • reasoning is when rastas gather in a circle smoke and converse.
  • nyabingi is a traditional dance most performed on holidays and special occasions. these can last for several days so at night they dance and during the day they reason.

  • January 6 - ceremonial birthday of Selassie
  • April 21 - Selassie's visit to Jamaica
  • July 23 - Selassie's personal birthday
  • August 1 - emancipation from slavery
  • August 17 - Marcus Garvey's birthday

holidaysare generaly celebrated with nyabingi and reasoning.

Dread locks

  • Rastas do are not allowed to cut their har so instead they twist it into dread locks.
  • Dread locks represent a loins mane witch simbolises strength, Africa, Ethiopia, and the Lion of Judah.

  • Is a strict diet witch only allows compleetly natural foods that are eatan as raw as posible.

Other restrictions are

  • No pork
  • No shelfish
  • No coffe
  • No milk

Some rastas are are also vegitarians or vegans.

Rastas also reject alcohol because it is a fermented chemicakl that doesnot belong in the body and it also makes you stupid with they think plays into the hands of babylon.
