Horse and Rider

by Kim Schilling

By Molly McGreal

I think the author is hinting that this poem will be about horses. I also think this will be a happy poem.

Examples

  • Horse and mount journeying with great skill
  • Feeling the power beneath me is a thrill
  • a feeling rushes over I can’t explain

Symbol

Line 3-with a mild touch I veered her with reign; uses feel

Line 8-watching the breeze bluster through her mane.

Line 1-Galloping towards the base of the steep hill, Sight

Imagery

"For a serene moment all time stood still." This is a metaphor because time did not literally stand still.

"Watching the breeze bluster through her mane" That is an alliteration because the two b's are next to each other.

Perhaps the reality of taking a spill ;This is a metaphor because reality can't spill.

Figures of Speech

I think the author was happy and exited. In the poem she writes about being thrilled. So I think she was happy.

Tone

Horse- the horse became connected with the rider on there ride.

Rider-the rider became faithful and trusting in the horse.

Theme

Poem

Galloping towards the base of the steep hill,

watching the breeze bluster through her mane,

with a mild touch I veered her with reign;

For a serene moment all time stood still.

Horse and mount journeying with great skill,

but collectively as one we must attain;

Galloping towards the base of the steep hill,

watching the breeze bluster through her mane.

Feeling the power beneath me is a thrill,

and racing across the meadowy plane,

a feeling rushes over I can’t explain,

perhaps the reality of taking a spill;

Galloping towards the base of the steep hill.
