Black Saturday

Patrick & Bronwyn O'Gorman

Before the fires

Patrick and Bronwyn O’Gorman were born in a regional town in the Kinglake ranges of Victoria, by the name of Humevale and they spent most of their lives in the bush with their family. Visitors called their hilltop house ‘magic mountain’. As teenagers the siblings both went to different schools but they still remained very close. Patrick and Bronwyn both felt their family was well prepared for the fire.

COPING WITH GRIEF

A few ways to cope with grief is

  • to get support from family

and friends.

  • see a counsellor and talk about what

your feeling.

  • talk to other people that are going

though the same thing as you.

What are they doing now?

The twins have now moved to the outer suburbs of Melbourne where Bronwyn is currently working as a nurse at one of the major hospitals in Melbourne, while Patrick is continuing a teaching degree at university. As the months pass since the fires the two siblings are trying to find a way to live life to the full in a way to make their parents and brother proud.
