Starting your immersive journey in the classroom using an object that you then bring into the space has great impact.
Pupils enjoyed 'becoming' the soldier and were confident in playing the
roles. The experience was much more profound for them because they 'became' the soldier, identified with them.
Use abstract themes like Ambient Lights or Time Tunnel to help set the scene and gain focus
The drama aspect helped to immerse them into the activities - they "become Claudius' advisers, they're not Carl or James... all that kind of approach just gets them straight into it".
Putting yourself in character during a session helps deepen the immersive effect and manage behaviour without breaking the spell.
If some of your pupils are scared to go in at first, find content of characters or places they are familiar with (eg. storybooks) to lessen the jump.
Every two months practitioners from across the 4D network come together to share practice and ideas about how they are using their immersive spaces for experiential learning.
A big thank you to Kensington Primary for hosting us this month!

As we are always aware, time is of the essence for teachers and planning! Sharing ways to create 4D-ready content so you can just upload and start would be useful - we will share our content guide more widely with schools so they gain access to some quick and easy editing tools.
Tweet or post your immersive lessons using #4Dexchange and we'll share it with the network and on our monthly Storify.
Or search for #4Dexchange to get fresh ideas for your class!
Schools would be keen to share content across sites, but only if this could be done at the same time as uploading to the system. We are working on a cloud sharing solution for this, and will ensure it requires minimum additional actions by end users.

The offline content editor is coming!! We had confirmation from users that this would dramatically increase capacity to upload content and encourage people to upload more of their own.
From WWI to Mr. Tumble, voiceover dragons to rocket takeoffs, lots of brilliant ideas around staff roles, content creation and extending experiences beyond the immersive space were shared!

Our users are confident in using their spaces for creative writing, PSHE and history but many would like more ideas and pathways for maths, science and geography. We are focusing our resource development on these subjects and are currently designing training and workshops for these areas for the autumn term. Stay tuned!
