Do the materials effect how fast the ice cubes will melt?
What makes an ice cube melt ?
Ice cubes melt because the molecules inside the ice cube absorb heat energy which causes the molecules to move faster. Once the molecules start to move faster they begin to vibrate and the molecules break apart.
Why does ice melt on certain materials instead of others?
Ice will melt faster on the material that can conduct more heat. The more foreign particles on the surface the faster it will melt.
If we change the material from underneath the ice cube then the ice cubes will melt at different times because certain materials conduct heat better.

This experiment did not turn out the way I thought it would.
These results probably occurred because more light might have been shining on one side more than the other.
