CHANDOGYA UPANISHAD 7.62.2

“Purity of diet purifies the antahkaran. A purified antahkaran stabilizes the mind which aids meditation, and after mastering meditation, the baser instincts are instantly eradicated.”

  • July 16, 2007
  • PSM in Chicago
  • "Meat is not our food. It is the food of carnivores. Our diet is vegetarian. Bhagwan has given good foods such as vegetables, fruit and milk. They have vitality. Some parents feel like giving eggs to their children for strength. But there's greater strength in a vegetarian diet than in eggs. Many have gained intellect (buddhi) from this diet. We should remember that our leaders and rishis obtained their strength and intellect from shakähār (consumption of plants and vegetables). To live by killing, that is not life. We should live and let animals live... One can never experience peace in life by slaughtering holy animals such as the cow and ox and then giving their flesh to fatten our kids."
