Intelligent structures interact with the environment

and react according to the stimuli that surround them.

"I'm trying to make data more relevant to the people who create it (..) I get bill every month for my electricity, but those numbers couldn't really help me change my behavior."

Sey Min (founder of Randomwalks design)

Living Light

It´s an outdoor pavilion with a dynamic skin with the city shape divided into sections.

This creates a relation between the city and its inhabitants.

People can interact with the Living Light through their cellphones and computers by getting electronic updates of the city's pollution.

Each part of the sections of the pavilion glows and blinks in response to the air pollution and the peoples interest on the environment.

Amphibious

Architecture

Visual interface floating in the water's

surface. The purpose its to create a fun

way to communicate with the river.

The idea is to have the user send text messages

to the fish in the river. The "fish" will send back information about the contamination levels and other data about the river they live in.

Bronx River - Bronx River Art Center

East River - Pier 35 / Rutgers Slip

Data

Formation

The idea behind this concept in South

Korea is that people will get "rewarded"

if they have good eco-skills.

People start with a small apartment.

The building records how people behave with the environment.

If they are good they will get more space.

The system works with sliding

modules so that the building actually

changes shape according to how people

respond to environmental necessities.
