Reviews.

Functional Writing.

Recommendation.

Evaluation.

End with a recommendation in favour if you liked it.

If you didn't advise your readers not to waste their time and money.

Always suggest who might like it even if you didn't.

Tell the reader what you thought.

Your opinion is important, it is what the reader wants to know.

Explain what you liked or disliked and why.

Description.

Describe the content.

Give enough details to let the readers judge whether or not it's the sort of thing they would be interested in.

Never give away an ending.

DVD and Book Blurbs.

Introduction.

This is a shorter task than a review.

The main difference between a review and a blurb is that the blurb must always be positive.

You must write it in such as way that the person who picks up the DVD or the book will be interested and intrigued enough to buy it.

A blurb is a cross between an advertisement and a review.

Introduction.

Tell the readers what you are going to review.

Give the title and the creator.

It is always a good idea to mention if the book/film/game is a sequel to something else.

A review is a mixture of information and opinion.

You could be asked to write a review on a book, film, concert, television programme or computer game.

If you are writing a review you are commenting on the content as well as its quality.

A recommendation follows the same structure.
