• Terror at the Olympics in Munich on September 5, 1972

• Miami Dolphins win the Superbowl in 1973
• The Godfather wins several academy awards in March 1973

• Twin Towers are completed in 1973

• First African American Model to appear on the cover of Vogue Magazine in August 1974

• Thrift shopping due to the economic crisis in the mid-70s.
• Combining looks and utilizing past time periods like the 30s and 40s.
• Influence from London’s punk scene. This was a rebellion from the hippie movement.

• Rural living and handicrafts.
• Loose clothing that was soft and easy to sew.

• The sexual awakening that came with the Women’s liberation and Gay liberation movements gave cross-dressing appeal.
• Men started to wear makeup and colors.

Entertainment

• Home life in the 70s still centered largely around the family.
• Most kids came home from school, did their homework, ate dinner with their parents, and then watched TV or went out to play.
• Record players were really big in the 70's, nothing beat kicking back and jamming to some good tunes!
