What happened

In 2008 a blizzard occurred in Afghanistan. It got to a high of -35 degrees Celsius and there was two meters of snow. This blizzard happened because in Afghanistan there are many mountains with high wind so it is actually likely for a blizzard to happen in the winter in Afghanistan.

What was the Environmental Impact

The impact on the environment was that when the snow melted and there were little floods that happened in the country. Also there were many buildings that collapsed. One more thing that happened was that they had to block off all of the roads so know one could get through to where they wanted to go.

How are Blizzards Formed

Blizzards are formed by hot air rising and going over the cool air then when there is rain it will go through the hot air first then going through the cold air and then it freezes and if there is lots of wind it will last very long.

Why Was This Problem Hard to Solve

This problem was hard to solve because Afghanistan is a pretty poor country so they couldn't afford blankets and other helpful things to keep them warm. If people didn’t help Afghanistan there would have been way more people dead and many more people would have hypothermia.

Who Helped These People

People that helped were American soldiers and aid organizations. These people sent blankets, jackets, shoes, and fuel to keep eachother warm and they also sent food. People were so cold that they were selling their children for food and coal.
