“To reach out to people who may not traditionally visit National Park Service areas.”
– Robert Stanton,
Director of National Park Service
The National Park Service and Amtrak have partnered together since 2000 to provide on-board education programs to Amtrak passengers through its “Trails & Rails” program. Today, there are over 25 programs across the country. The National Park Service is now seeking qualified volunteers to serve as on-board Guides for a new program that will be sponsored by the National Parks of New York Harbor (NPNH) with a weekly program running between New York Penn Station and Washington, DC Union Station.
