Surveillance

Table Games Dealer

In May of 2001, I transferred to the Surveillance Department and did my fair share of catching the "bad guys"! In the surveillance department we not only helped our own security officers but we also assisted our local, County and State officers with their investigations. Here is a picture of one of the suspects we helped capture at the casino. This is Cathy Lynn Longley, she was also know as the Bag Lady Bandit!

Spring semester I enrolled in Coastline Community College

On September 14, 1996 I began training to become a blackjack dealer. September 27, 1996 was my first day on a live table. Over the next 4 years I moved up the ladder and became a Pit Boss.

December 2010

Went back to work as a dealer

Year of 2010

December 28, 2009 I got laid off from the Casino and became an at home mom. I am not the type to want to stay home, and I didn't like the feeling that I wasn't contributing to the family, so after a year off, I went back to work at the casino as a part time dealer.

July 2012

This is where I began my pursuit of my Criminal Justice Degree!

Long path to follow

After graduation I worked at Taco Bell until May of 1996. I had fun but who wants to make Taco Bell a life long career...not me, so in May of 1996 I left Taco Bell to go work at Emco High Voltage. Here, my job was to assembled circuit boards, I don't know what they were for but the pay was better. Still not my life long career.

The background investigation takes approximately 90 days to complete, if you're cleared then there is the Psych evaluation, oral interview, medical check then being offered a position within the prison system. The process prior to the Academy takes roughly a year to complete then you add on the 4 month academy.

My goal

Out of High School

I graduated from Calaveras High School in 1995 and had no idea of what I wanted to do in my life.

Get my Bachelors degree and become a Corrections Counselor

In the end of 2013 and beginning of 2014, I decided that I needed to begin my Criminal Justice Career. I applied with California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to become a Correctional Officer. Beginning this process at 37 years old might not have been the smartest thing I have ever done, but I am not a quitter so I am going to do my best and never give up on my dream!

Home of the Redskins!
