What is Sound?

Examples:

Sound through the air, sound through a door, sound under the water, etc.

Density, Temperature, Elasticity and Sound

Sound is a type of energy that travels in waves. Sound is caused by a vibration of some sort.

Have you ever been listening through a door before and then heard someone knock? It sounds louder than when you just knock on a door! That's because the door is denser than air. The more elastic an object, the more it absorbs the sound. Temperature also affects sound! Since the molecules in hotter temperatures means they vibrate more quickly, and vice versa!

How do the arrangement of particles in the medium contribute to the speed of sound?

What does "Medium" Mean?

The tighter packed the particles, the more dense an object is. The more dense an object is, the faster a wave can travel through it!

A medium isn't exactly a middle size in sound! A medium is anything sound travels though, like air, wood, water, etc!
