INTRODUCTION
Pink conveyed her purpose through the emotional appeal of sorrow and repetition to display that she felt discontented and disappointed by the way President George W. Bush was doing things.
2nd STRATEGY
1st STRATEGY
All in all Pink wanted the President to see how little he has done for the people in his country. She wanted her audience to see how self centered he was and how less he cared. She did this by the using the emotional appeal of sorrow and repetition in her song Dear Mr. President.
The emotional appeal of sorrow is used to get her audience to feel sad and dissatisfied with the president . "What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?" ( line 6). Pink questions the president about his actual feelings for the poor. She yearns for him to notice how little he does, trying to get him to feel sympathy for these people. She pushes the emotional appeal of sorrow even more by trying to put the image of people "crying" into her audience head while they're "sleeping". So that they can feel just upset about the situation as she is.
The use of repetition points out the importance of something that Pink wanted her audience to be extremely informed about. This strategy was used to indent such a message about "hard work" ( 9 times, lines 32,34,36,38,39,40,41,42,43) into her audiences mind. So that It would make them remember even when they're not listening to the song. She wanted them to be mindful of those who have to work hard all the time and its still not enough. That the president could help them but wouldn't because he doesn't know anything about "hard work" his self.
