Wendy Syndrome

What Is It?

Wendy Syndrome is the term used for the women who act like mothers with their partners or people close to them that have Peter Pan Syndrome, because Wendy is the motherly figure in the peter pan story, and the women who have this are mothering these males like Wendy does to Peter Pan, the lost boys and her brothers. for a women to get this syndrome she must suffer to some degree from a fear of rejection, perpetuate a negative self image through an inner voice of inferiority, and become so dedicated to her social image that she fails to examine her true personal life.

Signs and Symptoms

Symptoms of Wendy syndrome are:

- lacking in self-identity;

- missing opinions of their own and being not in touch with their own likes or dislikes;

- basing their security on the approval of others;

- presenting an acceptable social image is of high importance;

links to developing this illness

The Australian Government has made mental health a 'national priority area'. what does this mean? what impact should this have on people suffering with mental illness?

Things that can lead to Wendy syndrome are having someone close to you with Peter Pan Syndrome, but mostly if you have suffered from something that makes your fear rejection, have thoughts about yourself that are negative and you have an inner voice of inferiority, and become so dedicated to your social image that you fail to examine your true personal life.

this means that people with metal illnesses can get the proper treatment for what they are dealing with and not have to suffer in the dark alone anymore. this is a big step because now people can find out more about certain illnesses that we don't often come across or see in a person.

Peter Pan Syndrome & Wendy Syndrome

Explain the strategies people can adopt to enhance mental health (for anyone)

5 ways to improve your mental health:

1) Value yourself- Think of yourself in a positive way instead of a negative way.

2) Take care of your body- Eat health and exercise.

3) Surround yourself with good people.

4) give yourself- make sure you let yourself sit back and relax every once in a while.

5) learn how to deal with stress- find ways to take your mind of the stresses in your life by having a Thai latte, going for a walk, listening to music, or even coloring.

Treatment

Since Peter Pan Syndrome has not been recognized by the WHO as a psychological disorder, there are no defining treatments as of yet, but there are therapies. therapies such as; the wilderness therapy which cover psychodrama, cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based therapies, solution-focused therapy, transpersonal counseling, family therapy, and other treatment modalities. Such as; The Healing Sound of Silence, this is where the individual is completely kept away from things that will lead to addiction and instead they are focused on the real issues about themselves.

Services that can be used to help if you have this disease

The main place to get help for Peter Pan Syndrome is a psychologist, because it isn't a well known syndrome and hasn't been called an official mental disorder by WHO, there aren't any proper organizations to help people with this. A psychologist would know how to help someone with this syndrome better than anyone else would.

Why is this condition an issue for young people

Content

This condition is an issue in young males because it makes them unable them to build strong relationships, they remain unsuccessful at facing their fears and responsibilities that could then lead other psychological disorders, it also has been found that people with this syndrome have very low self esteem, are unmotivated and feel depressed, they don't show self confidence, motivation or determination which are all key qualities for being successful

Are there any specific links to likely causes for developing the illness?

Things that cause males to develop Peter Pan Syndrome are things like having overprotective parents. according to a top psychologist, Peter Pan Syndrome could be a result of having overprotective parents, because it stops the child from growing into maturity and exhibit their own ways to face life's problems. it is also linked to Narcissism but not in the egotistical sense. People with this syndrome tend to be absorbed with the comfort of imagination in their minds which leads them to introspection, which then in turn leads them to be imprisoned by this childhood fantasy, and leave them oblivious to the realities and difficulties of life that they need to face

Peter Pan Syndrome is a disorder most commonly in males when they are unable to grow in maturity. They may grow in a physical appearance into an adult but they choose to hang onto their childhood in an avoidance of assuming responsibility like a mature adult would. they are men who stay as boys inside.
