Agoraphobia:

Fear of leaving home or of public places

Treatment

There have been two effective ways of curing agoraphobia. One way is by taking medication and another would be by going to psychotherapy.

Medication

Psychotherapy

Doctors treat agoraphobia as they would treat someone with any panic disorder. They would commonly give their patients SSRI which stands for serotonin selectie reuptake inhibitor. SSRI is a medication treatment that include the medications : sertraline (Zoloft), paroxetine (Paxil) and fluoxetine (Prozac). Normally though phobias such as agoraphobia can be treated by using beta-blocker medications which block the affects that adrenaline has on the body.

Psychotherapy tends to focus on decreasing the negative, anxiety-provoking behaviors an individual is having due to agoraphobia. This form of therapy has been proven to actually help those suffering from this phobia. It is clinically proven to relieve symptoms and help prevent patients from going back to dealing with their symptoms.

Patients receiving treatment tends be most effective by doing their therapy on the inter wide web.

Another form of therapy is actually having an intervention which the individual is put through situations that creates anxiety and the individual is being taught relaxation techniques that help calm the nerves and able to deal with anxiety.

Perspectives:

The Effects....

#1: The Psychodynamic Perspective: Human mind that could be done by the unconscious mind that might have been triggered due to an incident that has happened to the individual in the early stages of childhood.

#2: The Cognitive Perspective: The individual might have thought out outcomes in his/her mind of the possibilites that could occur if they were to step out of their comfort zone.

Agoraphobia tends to not affect men or boys. This phobia of being out in public or even out of one's comfort zone tends to be more of risk to women/girls, Native Americans, middle-aged individuals, those on the low income and to those who have been divorced, separated or lost a spouse. Those affected tend to be more at risk of experiencing panic attacks. Individuals who suffer from this phobia could possibly be at risk of many other anxiety disorders such as social and generalized anxiety disorders. Social anxiety disorders are provoked when one is in a social situation that is considered to be very stressful. Generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by anxiety that is severely free-floating, which causes uncontrollably prespiration, trembling and much more. Agoraphobia can also affect one's craving for alcohol which is very severe knowing that it is a depressant that can help control one's anxiety. Alcoholism is a hugely common one can take upon which can also be temporarily in one's life.

The Way out

The way out is to find ways of coping and able to deal with anxiety. Internet therapy is the best way to help with dealing with Agoraphobia.

#3: The Cross-Cultural Perspective: A possibility that a cultural influence might have occurred at a small aged the individual has came across. The possibility of a in home influence the individual has put in the mind set of being afraid to travel outside of their home or comfort zone.

#4: The Humanistic Perspective: There might have been a changed in the outside world that possibility the individual did not enjoy or made a huge impact on the individual's passed experiences and took a negative effect on them.
