The Base Of The Story

Conclusion

Plot

The Conflict

It all starts here...

All of the main characters that are left behind in this book have to face the conflict of man against himself. This means that the characters are fighting themselves to make the right decisions and stay on the right path, especially since all good is absent from the world now.

Exposition- In the beginning of the book, the author introduces the four main characters, and gives information on their current lives.

Rising action- Judd is on a plane to London. Vicki is out with some friends drinking and smoking. Ryan and Lionel are both in their homes in bed sleeping.

Climax- The rapture happens!

Falling action- Judd, Vicki, and Lionel find out their families have been raptured and are now with God. Ryan finds out that both of his parents died in an accident caused from the rapture.

Resolution- They all meet at the church because they don't know what else to do. They must make a decision now on whether they are going to truly become a Christian.

Judd, Lionel, Vicki, and Ryan are all alone after the rapture happens.

After the rapture takes place, only evil is left in the world.

The Setting

The Theme

  • Place - This story takes place in Chicago, Illinois.
  • Time - At the beginning of the book, it is a couple of days before the rapture takes place. As you read through the book, the rapture takes place, and for the last few chapters it is after the rapture has already happened.
  • This book is about the rapture happening.
  • One main theme is hope. Hope is what those left behind have to be saved and go to Heaven.
  • Another theme is bravery. Those left behind had to be brave in order to survive the tribulation.
  • A final theme is determination. The four kids showed determination to stay alive and preach during the seven years of tribulation.

The Vanishing

1 Thessalonians 4:17 ESV

Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

Mark 13:32 ESV

But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

My thoughts....What caught my eye!

1. The Rapture- This book is before, during and after the rapture happens.

2. The Church- This book takes place at church several times; also talks about how we are the church, as the body of Christ, and need God to save us from sin and eternal death.

3.Christianity- The belief that Jesus is our Saviour and saved us from our sin. This is the only way to have a relationship with God.

  • This book is awesome, because it is a great picture of what the rapture is like from the eyes of people who have been "left behind"!
  • My favorite part is when Judd was on the plane acting like an adult
  • Great read for kids my age
  • Ends with a #cliffhanger...

This book is...

  • Realistic Fiction
