The purple royals jacket!
It was a big symbol because it represented his identity people knew him for. Also, it represented he was a royal. It was symbol of belonging to something and also being trapped and at one point it meant power and fearless and popular.
"There had been some sort of pride in knowing he was a royal. Now there is no pride at all." This quote is important because it means he regrets who he was. He lost his life over his "so called friends". He realized the royals broke him.
In the end Andy was successful to take off his jacket but he was still known as a royal which led to his death. It ended with the cop writing royal on his note pad.
"The knife had not been plunged in hatred of Andy. The knife hated only the purple jacket". This is important because they only killed him because of his royals identity. They didn't know him for who he truly was and it affected people's thoughts. Once you have one identity and you try to change it, your old identity will always stay with you.
It was a group identity death because when people walked by him and saw he was a royal they didn't want to help because they were scared of his reputation and scared they were in danger with other gangs.
Andy was happily sent to a new world with a fresh start to begin again.
The protagonist was laura because she was the only one that tried to help Andy and called him by his name.
The antagonist is Andy because he chose to be a Royal and he got himself involved and it backfired. He chose the wrong decision of being a royal and he realizes after wards.
The minors are the old lady, Freddie and Angela and the cop.
The setting took place on a sidewalk close to an alley. The mood was depressing and overwhelmed. The time was around the 1960's-70's.
