Think of point of view as the way the author let's you see and hear a
given story.
- First Person Point of View: Uses I, me, etc.
- Second Person: Explains the actions of you.
- Third person: Explains the actions of the characters. Uses he, she, they, character names, etc.
1. States the main idea at the beginning.
2. Mentions each element of plot: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.
3. Includes only facts-not your opinion.

- Remember Main Idea is specific...If you don't have character names in your main idea you are stating it WRONG!
- Main Idea is what a text is mostly about, specific to the text. It is not universal...THAT IS THEME!!!!

Your supporting details are the textual evidence that supports your main idea. If your main idea can't be supported with textual evidence it's probably wrong.
