Major Events of the 1990's

1991- World Wide Web (WWW)

Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols

Different locations on the World Wide Web, are Web sites. They have addresses called uniform resource locators/URLs.

Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols served in the U.S army.

McVeigh served in the Persian Gulf War, failing to qualify for the Special Forces Program. He decided to leave the army and instead of supporting his country he was suspicious about the U.S.

The Web led to consumers and companies engaging in electronic commerce during the 1990s.

The world wide web is a utility that allows us to access a wide variety of different sites. Like videos, email, news articles, and much more.

1995- Oklahoma City Bombing.

1991- Cold War Ends at USSR

1990- Persian Gulf War

The inspiration of the bombing was a shooting between federal agents and survivalist Randy Weaver in Idaho. His wife and son then were killed on April 19th, 1993 in Waco, Texas. McVeigh planned an attack on the Murrah building on the 2 year anniversary.

April 19, 1995 in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma, a truck-bomb exploded outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.

168 people dead and at least 650 people injured.

President Bush declared a ceasefire on February 28, in which he ended the Persian Gulf War.

Saudi Arabia and Egypt called on the United States to get involved because Iraq invaded Kuwait.

The war began with a massive U.S.-led air offensive known as Operation Desert Storm.

the Soviet Union was disintegrating with economic problems and growing political ferment in the USSR.

In 1989, every communist state replaced its government with a non-communist gov.

Timothy McVeigh, set off the bomb in which he was later executed for his crimes. Terry Nichols was a contributor and was sentenced to life in prison.

The Reagan Doctrine was established by President Ronald Reagan.

The bombing was the worst terrorist attack until 9/11 occurred in 2001.

The Berlin Wall was destroyed.

The Soviet Union had fallen apart and the Cold war was over.

Effects of Stealth bombers, Cruise missiles,Smart bombs that have laser-guidance systems and infrared night-bombing equipment.

1999- Columbine Shooting

President Truman had made a more destructive bomb which was called a hydrogen bomb/ "Super bomb".

1991-93 1996-98- Micheal Jordan

1995- OJ Simpson Convicted of Murder

April 20th 1999, in Littleton, Colorado two seniors at Columbine High School kill many innocent people.

They were Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris.

1991- Overcomes the Pistons and ends up beating the Lakers in five games for his first NBA title.

He is accused of murdering his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and a friend of hers, Ronald Goldman.

1992- MJ beats Clyde Drexler and the Trail Blazers in 6 games, receiving a second straight title.

They met each other in middle school, in high school they didn't find any group of friends. And were bullied by other students and athletes. Which made them not like other people.

1993- Jordan averages 41 ppg in the finals winning his 3rd consecutive title and the first to win a three-peat.

the trial took 252 days, his so called "dream team"(his lawyers) attempted to convince the judge wasn't guilty.

1998-99- The Lewinsky Scandal

They had plans of this massacre almost a year before it even happened. In that year they searched the internet for building pipe bombs and developing their plan.

1996- Jordan announces he is coming back, the Bulls set the NBA record and become 72-10. They go through the finals in 6 games defeating the supersonics. Jordan cries in the locker room after the game.

Sports of the 1990's

In 1995 president Clinton began an affair with a 21 year old unpaid intern, Monica Lewinsky.

In 1997 was when the relationship was over.

1991-92- Christian Laettner

1997- In the finals Game 5 Jordan is diagnosed with food poisoning and still plays game five scoring 38 points to help his team win that game and the NBA title.

"The Shot"

He ended up being not guilty and couldn't be tried again due to the double jeopardy amendment.

With 2.1 seconds left in overtime, Duke trailed Kentucky 103-102 then Grant Hill threw the ball 3/4's length of the court to his teammate Christian Laettner, he makes a spectacular move then puts up a mid-range jump shot.

Christian Laettner not only had the looks, he had the skill as well. With a swagger attitude of Christian Laettner. All across the nation he was either hated or loved.

1998- MJ makes a 17 foot jump shot with 5.2 seconds left and the greatest shot he ever made, after going back and forth with the Jazz.

1994-97- Nebraska football in the 90's

Christian Laettner led Duke to the Final Four in all four of his seasons at Duke, and had back-to-back titles in 1991 and 1992.

President Clinton admits his wrong doing after trying to defend himself and is later impeached by the House Judiciary Committee in December of 1998.

1994-

Tommie Frazier gets hurt, Brook Berringer takes his place. Leads the cornhuskers to a National title

beating #3 Miami 24-17 in Orange Bowl.

1997-

Undefeated 3 out of the last 4 years, going 13-0. Nebraska beat Tennessee in the Orange Bowl, 42-17.

1995-

Tommy Frazier came back, lead the team even after his backup Brook Berringer lead them to a National title. Beat #2 Florida, 62-24, in the Fiesta Bowl. Said as the best team in college football history.
