Weather in Virginia Depended on the seasons ocuuring at the time. Of all the seasons, Winter had a huge affect on colonists. In the first year of Colonial Virginia, the majority of colonists died from starvation or disease. The colonists were un-prepared for the winter weather. They did not save much of their crop and durring the winter, Import and export rates drop.
Some important forts during the Colonial time period in Virginia would include Fort Germanna and Fort Henry

Fort Germanna - 1717-1724 - Consisted of mostly German Immigrants. The fort collapsed due to the German Immigrants expanding outside Germanna
Fort Henry - 1646-1691- Fort Henry (Named after King Henry) was a striving community run by Abraham Wood (1614-82), who sent out several exploratory expeditions from there. In 1675, Peter Jones took control. The post became known as Peter's Point and eventually grew into modern Petersburg.
