Till this day Frida is seen as an icon, not only because of her astounding art but because of her ideology. She questioned gender, and beauty standards as you can tell by her infamous brown. She did not ammount to gender, and questioned even her own gender identity. Her beliefs in gender equality is also something she is admired for. Many of her beleifs or ideas were seen as shameful in her community and during her time many people judged her looks and way of life. She was a true testiment to not only Mexican culture, but also equality.

Kahlo is the third of four daughters. She had a very difficult relationship with her mother however in her art she talks about her affectionate relationship with her father. The Mexican revolution started when she was 3, she was very passionate about her country and fought for her countries liberation despite her gender. She participated in riots and protests against their government.
Frida suffered from many physical injuries and diseases. At the age of 6 she was diagnosed with polio, which made on of her legs shorter and thinner than the other.

On September 17th, 1925 Kahlo's bus collided with a trolly car on her way home from school. She suffered from many critical injuries including a broken collarbone, a broken pelvis, broken ribs, eleven fractures in her right leg, broken spinal column, a crushed and dislocated right foot, dislocated shoulder, and an iron handrail pierced her abdomen and her uterus. She was told her pierced uterus will her affect fertility and she may never
to have children. Her injuries
left her bedridden for 3
months in a full body
cast. Althoug her healing
processwas long and hard,
she eventually healed she still
had painful relapses for the rest of her life. She had to have a total of 35 suguries, The permanent damage prevented het from having a child although she got pregnant three times, all three pregnancies had to be terminated.

Frida and Diegos relationship was very troubled. They were married in 1929,divorced by 1939, than re married in 1941. Both had multiple affairs. Kahlo, who was bisexual had relationships with Leon Trotsky (soviet politician), Isamu Noguchi (artist and architect) , Josephine Baker (french dancer).
Fridas relationship with Diego was very relavent in her artwork.
Frida was born on July 6th 1907, in Coyoacán Mexico. She was married to Mexican muralist Diego Rivera. She is best known for her self portraits and surrealism. Her mexican folk art has captivated people around the world as it captures the essence of Mexican culture.
She is admired by her strength and courage to overcome beauty and gender stereotypes. She preached feminism equality and fun fact she was a strong believer in Marxism. She died in her hometown on July 13, 1954 age 47.
La Casa Azul is an art museum that showcases Fridas work. The museum itself is the original house Frida grew up in.

Fridas art style was heavily influnced by her husband and esteemed Mexican mualist Diego Riviera. Her art captured Mexican indiginous culture (la cultura mexicana indiginous) and hardships she faced during her life.
Out of her 157 paintings, 55 were self portraits. She said "I paint myself because I am so often alone and because I am the subject I know best."
She frequently used symolism and imagery in her paintings. She used monkeys in her self portraits as symbols of lust.

Fridas lower leg was amputated in 1952 because she had contracted Gangrene. She also had Brochopneumonia at the time so one again she was bedridden. She was ill till her death, and due to frequent anxiety attcks she developed a mrophine addiction. Before her death she wrote "I hope the exit is joyful — and I hope never to return." She died in 1954 due to pulomonary complications. Kahlo was cremated, and her ashes remain in an urn in La Caza Azul.
