My Summary
Another Perspective
I woke up, but I wished I hadn't. I'd lost a kilogram's worth of my shoulder when I'd shielded Percy from Ethan Nakamura, the son of Nemesis(goddess of revenge). The blade poisoned me, and even the demigod children of Apollo, god of medicine, couldn't help me much. Percy went off travelling to the River Styx to get dunked in there, become invulnerable, and get a fighting edge
against Kronos. A normal weekend in ancient
Greece, I guess. But this isn't ancient
Greece. This is NOW. What to
do, what to do??
Kronos:
How I accomplished different perspectives
Summary#2
Oh, I'd love to see Percy Jackson's face if he survives this war. Broken boned and in chains, struggling helplessly as he is hauled before me. ''Well,'' I will say.''I wonder which throne I should destroy first?Maybe their sky should fall. Maybe wisdom should leave them. Oh! I know! I'll burn this one first,'' i'll say, gesturing towards his father's
fishing chair. And that is what i'll do. I'll burn
Poseidon's throne slowly and painfully, letting it sink
in for both father and son alike. Oh, I can't wait
until tomorrow. We've only been at
war for two hours.
In this book, The Last Olympian, Percy Jackson and his 'cousins', from camp half-blood fight a war against the titan army, and the gods and their children battle to contain them and their little 'distractions'. Such as Pandora's box, or pithos, that contained hunger, fear, death, and the first vampire, or at least Greek version of it; an Empousa. However, one spirit remains trapped inside; Elsuis, spirit of Despair. If Elsuis gets released by the child of a mortal, hope itself would leave this world, giving a sign the demigods had surrendered. The worst part is that the jar shows up whenever you are mentally weak, tempting you to open it. Meanwhile, Typhon, a monster so big his head scrapes the sky, is being released from his prison; under Mt Talampais, California. The gods are facing him, getting drained of their power by the minute. The lord of time, along with the terrifying power to turn time to the texture and slowness of honey(I always knew those bees were up to no good) is invading Percy's hometown.
To write from different perspectives you have to understand the personality of that character, how much of the story is revealed at one time and place, and sometimes you have to consider if this changes depending on how close you are to the end or start of the book. I had to talk about Percy Jackson in third person instead of first, like the author has. I have chosen Annabeth and Kronos since they are, in my opinion, the second and
third most involved in the plot of this book
/series.
"Who would be crazy enough to attempt that?",Kronos asks when he is told about Percy's plan.
They are.
Taking a bath in the river of the dead? Sure, why not?Watching your mom fire a shotgun and your stepdad swordfight? Okay! Taking a day trip to mount Olympus and trashing the whole of Manhattan? Piece of cake and .............
People have loved Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian and it's prequels and sequels, The Heroes of Olympus, featuring The Lost Hero, The Son of Neptune, The Mark of Athena, The House of Hades, and the new Blood of Olympus. But for now, Time is enough of a handful without giants, the Earth, Night, and Eternal Abyss to fight as well(oops. Spoiler alert. Sorry).
But seriously, for now just remember:
12 titans and 100,000 monsters vs 40 American teenagers.
Who knows how THIS"LL turn out.
Timeline
The Author's style and an Alternative Beginning.
Rick Riordan's style gives you lots of detailed imagery. For example, here is
how he explained the fields of Asphodel, the ancient Greek place in between heaven and hell, summarised:'' Imagine a soccer stadium with millions of translucent, grey fans. Now imagine that times a million. There you go, just without
any lights.''(Not 3 sentences, soz.)
Conclusion
Word Wall
lenient-merciful
scythe -a curved blade used either for
harvesting crops or combat.
An Alternative Ending
Kronos, the lord of Time, is invding Manhattan and destroying the 600th floor of the Empire state building, aka mount Olympus.
12 immortal beings and all the monsters ever created in Greek mythology vs 40 teenage Americans.
Kronos never stood a chance.
Kronos is the eldest of the twelve titans, cruel immortals that ruled Mount Olympus before Zeus and his siblings overthrew him, like Cronus had done to his father, Uranus, the first god of the sky. In the book, he escapes from the Underworld's prison, Tartarus, both a place and the god of eternal abyss(the former of which is actually the body of the latter) and rises, while acquiring a brainwashed army of monsters and demigods(the result of a god/goddess having a child with a mortal person).
I saw something that I hadn't seen in almost
6 months: Camp Half Blood. With renewed hope, I sprinted down the hill and was greeted by the centaur Chiron. ''Percy! Grover!'' he called with glee, which he rarely did, since he was so serious most of the time. I wondered what he'd been up to while we were gone fighting Kronos, and who toppled the throne of Kronos on Mt. Talampais, and what happened to Krios and Rhea and all the other titans, and the new Great Prophecy, but it doesn't matter. I feel at home. I am home. The nightmare is OVER.
The Changes I made to the Text
This author apparentely likes short and sweet; trying to say on topic with only short insights to the other side, not allowing you to quite find out, but upping the tension all the way through. I wrote from Kronos's and Annabeth's first person as opposed to Percy's. Chiron wasn't actually used in the ending: His mum (Sally Jackson) and his stepfather (Paul Blofis-haha.) are, though. In the original, Percy gets his insights through dreams and Iris-Messaging( Iris was the Greek goddess of
the rainbow), not through intuition.
Chiron
Luke is a son of Hermes, the messenger god, brainwashed by Cronus. Eventually, Cronus inhabits Luke's body as a transition into his true godly form, when his very presence turns mortals to ash. When Luke breaks an oath to his makeshift 'sworn family', it shocks him into remembering his past life. He commits suicide to protect the gods from his own side, and saves the (mythical)fifth age. This makes you wonder what happened afterward, and if there will be a sequel.
Grover Underwood
Annabeth Chase
Chiron is a wise centaur(a greek mythical creature-half man, half horse.Better known by their Roman cousins, Saggitariuses)(or Saggatari maybe?)He runs camp half-blood and mentors percy Jackson, as well as all the other campers, children of all the twelve olympians. His fellow centaurs, or brethren, are known as the 'Party Ponies', 'party' for obvious reasons, but seriously, they're TEN FEET TALL!!!
Grover Underwood is Percy's best friend all through this series. He is a satyr, (roman: faun) and a searcher for the lost god of the wild, Pan. Since satyrs age half as fast as humans, Grover is 28 and is still in middle school. He is Percy's assigned 'protector', which I think is probably self-explanatory enough for you to work out yourself.
Annabeth is the oldest child of Athena, the greek goddess of wisdom, strategy, war, and reason at Camp Half Blood(The headquarters for Greek demigods on Long Island, New York). Annabeth is Percy's girlfriend and second-in-command, being the best strategist in the Athena group, making her the best strategist in camp half-blood, pretty much. If there's anyone to ask for
anything, it's her.
