  • A rescue situation involving fire personnel develops
  • Following a PAR, personnel are unaccounted for
  • A "Mayday" call is made over the radio

RIC should be established for the express purpose of providing an immediate rescue capability for all fire personnel operating on an incident.

RIC shall deploy on a proactive approach with the following considerations

  • Check with IC to confirm which crews are on scene and there assignment/location
  • Confirm radio channels
  • Determine location of RIC equipment staging and inform command
  • Conduct a size up of the structure with crew
  • Assign roles: LAS bag, TIC, Irons, RIC pack
  • Soften Structure
