After leaving the egg out overnight, they began to shrivel up and decreased in size. The outer membrane became lose on the inner substances.
In this extra credit experiment, I discorved the different ways the eggs can react in other liquids. It helped me understand the effcts of different types of solutions: isotonic, hypotonic, and hypertonic. It really showed ways the cell membrane works.
1. I chose my two liquids to soak my eggs in after the eggs are soaked in vinigear to get ride of the shell.
2. After placing the eggs in vingear taking the measurements before, 500 ml of vinigear, and after leaving them out for 24 hours. Making observations and taking pictures.
3. Next I measured 500 ml of olive oil and placed the eggs in. Then I left it over night. Then I removed the eggs making observations and recording results of the left over liquid after the eggs were removed.
4. Lastly I placed the eggs in detergent over night after measuring exactly 500 ml. Then after recording observations and measurements, I removed the eggs.
5. I placed them on the counter overnight and made observations.
-I decided to test my two eggs inside of olive oil and laundry detergent after soaking it in vinigear.
-I predicted that the olive oil will cause the eggs to expand. I predicted the detergent would cause the eggs to shrivel up.
