Background

  • Lived in New York at the time
  • Dad was in NYPD

What Happened

  • The North Tower got hit first by Flight 11
  • The South Tower got hit about 15 minutes later by flight 175
  • Both planes were hijacked by Al Qaeda members

What Happened Cont.

  • The South Tower fell first, even though it got hit 2nd. It fell around 10:00 am after burning for almost an hour
  • It fell to the ground in just 10 seconds.
  • Just this one building caused approximately 600 innocent people to lose their lives.
  • The North Tower eventually collapsed after about an hour and fell around 10:30.
  • This building had a bigger death toll
  • This cause around 1400 people to die.

The Aftermath

  • A total of 2,753 people lost their lives from these 2 terrorist attacks in Manhattan.
  • There were other attacks that day at the Pentagon, and an open field in PA.
  • A grand total of 2,977 people died from all the attacks

How My Family Was Affected

  • My dad (in the NYPD) wasn't there that day, Thank God!!
  • He had to help clean up the mess, though
  • He had to pick up the body parts remaining. He is one of the bravest people I know
  • I'm so thankful to have him with me today.
