CONCLUSION
The global economy is throwing technology at Americans, the world. In school, where people work, and in new social networking sites they are being downloaded every day. There is no doubt that technology is a daily part of our lives and that it brings many benefits. At the same time, there are harmful consequences. Children have a very versatile, powerful and cheap computer with them all day, every day - it sits on their shoulders and it's called a brain.
TECHNOLOGY'S EFFECT ON THE BRAIN
Education
- "One study from Duke University examined the test scores and computer use of 150,000 primary age children and found that those who didn't do well in the tests had high computer use, with most of the time spent socializing and playing games" (Donnelly)
- Less likely to understand or pay attention in school
- "Reading a novel or a poem requires concentration, weighing each word or sentence and using your imagination to enter the world created by the author or poet... Professor Greenfield argues today children are not reading as deeply, thus we are denying them the opportunity to merge with the characters and the story of a good book" (Dent)
TECHNOLOGY'S EFFECT ON THE BRAIN
Distraction
- Rudeness and incivility have become increasingly prevalent issues in our society; some of these stem from technology being used at improper times and causing a lack of effort to teach manners.
- According to CNN News, "a recent poll by market research company Synovate showed that 70% of 1,000 respondants observed manner-less technology use in others at least on a daily basis."
- Parents work on their computer or watch TV rather than interacting with their kids.
- The dinner table used to be a place where kids could develop their social and speaking skills and where adults could talk and administer lessons to their children. Without this time, modern children could become inept in social settings because they lack proper training in manners and decorum

Why Did I Research This Specific Topic?
Technology is taking ahold of education in the classroom. There are educational organizers in the country that are trying to take the teacher out of the classroom. They believe that it is better for us as students to recieve our lessons and our testing from a computer. I believe this sudden and overcoming change is definitely growing and degrading the education system.
