On the morning of December 5, 2013 a MTA train derailed in the Bronx because the driver fell asleep. The train derailed injuring more then sixty people and killing four.The brakes on the train were fine.
-Improve the rails and the system that run them to ensure this type of situation does not happen again.
Four people died 63 injured
-The system, however, was installed in the locomotive, which was powering the train from rear.
-The “alerter” system sounds a warning after 25 seconds of inactivity from the engineer. It can activate the brakes automatically if the engineer does not respond to the warning in 15 seconds.
