What is sport???

The differences...

P.e. is more focused on developing and learning fundamental key skills which can be used throughout life e.g. walking, running, catching.

Sport is a more intense exercise, which is played at a competitive level, where pressure is higher and demand too.

P.E IS COMPULSORY AND NON COMPETITIVE, WHICH IS FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS.

SPORT IS COMPETITIVE, AND PUTS PRESSURE ON PLAYERS TO PERFORM AT A HIGH LEVEL, REGARDLESS OF THE SCENARIODURING COMPETITIVE SITUATION.

Participation in Physical Activity

Sport is competitive, with the main objective being for an individual or a team to try and beat an opponent using tactical skills.

'an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment:team sports such as soccer and rugby. (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/sport )

This definition shows competition within physical activity. Physical exertion and skill are required within sport, and the ability to defeat an opponent using various strategies is a vital part of sport.

Sport has many fans and viewers, which can influence performers and motivate them to hit top form and compete to their best ability.

Sport has made many famous stars, including footballer such as David Beckham, Christiano Ronaldo etc. and other sports stars from a variety of sport including darts (Phil Taylor) tennis (Novak Djokovic) and Athletics (Mo Farrah).

Assessment

Physical education assesses children regularly with the main aim of helping them to understand, improve and hopefully maintain a physical well-being throughout their life.

Teacher and Coaches

Whereas sports clubs and teams assess their players and participants in order to see if they meet the physical requirements of the level of the sport they play and also to see if they meet the ability of other players competing for similar positions or places in the team.

Within PE, the teacher will aim to improve the knowledge of each individual in various aspects of PE. The job of being a PE teacher requires a vast amount of knowledge within different areas of PE as well the different sports they teach e.g over the course of a year a teacher could teach a group of students up to 10 different sports.

Whereas the role of a sports coach is very different to that of a PE teacher as the coach will require a vast amount of knowledge in that one particular sport in order to ensure already skilled performers can improve.
