Differentiated Learners

A fun environment will motivate!

This class is a unique mixture of varied learning

styles and personalities. There are 3 spanish speaking students, 2 autistic students, and 4

developmentally delayed students.

Studies show that developing motivation in children early is critical because it predicts motivation later in life.(Newman, R. 2013)

Student centered classroom

Quiet Areas

As Carol Tomlinson (2011) shares with us, the most important aspect of teaching is the connection with students.

The teachers desk is in the middle of the classroom instead of the front. The student tables are located close to the teachers desk. The student centered atmosphere makes room for students to move about from learning station to learning station with ease.

Supplies, books, and toys will be seen and easily accessible to the students. Shelves will be labeled with words and pictures for easy clean up by the students. Students will be able to pick the learning centers they want to go to.

The walls will be tactfully decorated with rich print and pictures that are culturally diverse in nature. Their will be able space to display children's work individually and from groups projects.

There will be a quiet area for any students needing to take a break at any time. There will also be a quiet reading space in the library station.

Yatvin (2004) states that a classroom reading area is a must in any classroom.
