Your Mission

In groups, look at the picture, and answer the following questions on a sheet of paper.

  • Is Queenie telling the truth?
  • What evidence supports your claim?
  • What are the general rules that explain how your evidence supports your claim.

Your goal is to find three to five items.

I Can

How does this connect with writing?

What is Argument of Fact

Argument of Fact forces people to look at WHAT something is based on the claims given, the supporting evidence, and how the evidence supports the claims.

  • Understand Argumentative Writing and its terminology
  • Work collaboratively
  • Read non-traditional text to gather evidence to support a claim

Audiences (and teachers and professors) do not just want to know your opinion but they want to know how you came to that conclusion.

Writing your essays in this style will allow room for your audience to understand your opinions and also teaches you how to explain and frame your opinions in everyday life.

  • Your reponse needs to be at least two paragraphs.
