Mormon Battalion soldiers came a long way in hopes of finding a new home for their families. Once the Mormon pioneers came to the Salt Lake Valley, they called it home. The Ute settlers weren't too happy with the new residents but decided to draw up a treaty that will allow them to live in peace. Eventually the Utes broke the treaty and started a war called the "Walker War".
The "Utah War" was a political war that had no bloodshed..not shots fired. no one hurt.
Utah's economy is very steady with resources such as copper, gold, silver, lead, zinc, potassium, salt and molybdenum. it's major farm products are barely, wheat, beans, potatoes, onions, and lot of corn! Utah exports mainly food, gold, aircraft engine parts , copper parts, and airbags. Some of Utah's long time professions are coal mining, cattle ranching, salt production and petroleum/gas mining.

Smith, who was the first President of the church in the generation. The Osmonds, Donnie and Marie. and the current President of the Mormon church, Thomas S. Monson. The Salt Lake Temple is well known world wide.
