This investigation is looking at how the effects of genetically modified chickens through consumptions.
The positive outcome of injecting hormones into the chickens are that there is going to be less of the H5N1 disease to other birds or humans because the hormones prevent it from spreading. The other positive to this is that the chickens grow up quicker which means there is more of it and are much larger which means there is more available for the humans.
Although there are many positives to this technology there are also some negatives in the process of this. One of these negatives are that the process could take a long time and also cost a lot more money than just growing chickens naturally. The other negative is that there are many protesters against this technology due to them thinking it is wrong to grow chickens this way and also because of the process the chickens go through.
Over all I agree and disagree both ways. I believe this new technology benefits the farmers most and if I were to be a farmer I would do the same. I also agree with how this hormone injection will prevent the spread of H5F1 disease. However I highly disagree with how the humans are treating the chickens and what effects it has on the chicken’s life. In my perception I would stand up against this because it could potentially harm the humans around the world because we don’t know what the hormones are capable of.
In my opinion, I agree with some things to an extent. Some of the things I agree with were that the technology does provide us people all around the world with more chicken and a larger amount of chicken. If I was a farmer I would benefit in many ways. Some of these are selling more chickens quicker, breeding the chicken to be larger which than means more money for me. Some of the things I disagree with were that the chickens are pretty much getting tortured and having a much lower life span because the farmers slaughter them and then sell them off to other companies. I also disagree with how the chickens have to go through getting injected with hormones into them whilst they are still young making them have to go through carrying a very large amount of weight which causes them to eventually get small fractures in their legs or bad strains.
The positive outcome of the hormone injections are that the chickens become larger in a quicker amount of time, approximately six weeks knower days but in the 50’s the chickens grew in 15 weeks which benefits the farmers
However the negative outcome of this technology is that there is an uneven amount of weight the chickens have to carry which is called “front heavy”. This happens when the breast is exceptionally large which adds to the strain on their legs.
Beginning in the last 50 years, chickens started to get injected with hormones, carcinogens, corn pills, arsenic and drugs. At the time there was a wide spread disease, H5N1, which needed to be contained and by injecting this new gene into the embryo of the chicken.
