Tasmanian Tiger

Breeding

We are researching on the Tasmanian Tiger. The Tasmanian Tiger is extinct because of habitat loss, they were killed by hunters and some died from disease. The Tasmanian Tiger has many different names like Tasmanian wolf, Tasmanian tiger and the scientific name is Thylacinus.

The breading season for Tasmanian Tiger, more properly known as the Thylacine, was belived to be from Winter to Spring although there is only little information about this creature, which has been extinct since 1936.

Behaviour and habitat

Tasmanian Tigers are not really Tiger, but they can jump like kangaroos. The female Tasmanian Tiger has a pouch which could carry up to 4 babies. The last Tasmanian Tiger died in Hobart zoo September 7th 1936.

During the day they had caves under rock and hollow logs. 4000 years ago they were everywhere the were at New Guniea and Australia. They could swim, they were very shy, nocturnal and hunted in small groups

What it eats?

The Tasmanian Tiger feeds on animals smaller than itself such as wallabies, wombats, possums and birds. The were also kown to scavenge in rubbish bins. It didn't get much food because it wasn't fast and it mostly rellied on its smell.

Appearance

The Tasmanian Tiger is 5 foot long.They have light brown fur with dark stripes across it's lower back. It's jaw is belivied to open wider that any other animal. Adults weigh 15kg to 35kg and most people think it is ressembled as a dog.
