The Problem

Opponents Argue

  • Humans have become dominant species and population has soared, but at a cost --
  • Populations of large mammals have been exterminated or diminished

  • past attempts at transplanting wildlife from one continent to another have harmed both the environment and the animals
  • humans cannot be sure of how animals will react once they are released into a new ecosystem
  • environmental conservationists should focus on preserving wildlife in its native environment.

The Possible Solution

  • Transplant the wildlife that is in a dangerous environment to a similar environment on a different continent.

The Proposed Solution

  • A group of ecologists from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. stated that lions, elephants and other large mammals should brought to the U.S.
  • The animals receive better protection
  • restore ecological diversity in North America.

Supporters argue

  • humans have caused widespread environmental destruction
  • led to the extinction of many wildlife species
  • want to transport endangered animals to areas where they can be adequately protected
  • environmental conservation will help create a healthier planet
  • maintains high biodiversity levels

What We Think

  • before they start to move the animals the environmental conservationists should try to preserve their wildlife in it's natural habitat instead of transporting them to a different continent.
  • we think this is the best solution because moving the animals can be expensive and they might not survive the trip or adapt to there new environment.
