Ron Nagle

  • In the early 60's he worked with the great ceramic artist Peter Voulkos.

  • Nagle was part of the Abstract Expressionist Ceramics group with Voulkos, William Wyman, Ken Price, Rudolf Staffel, Paul Soldner, and Don Reitz. Abstract Expressionists in Ceramics, "altered traditional concepts of form and surface for clay....the 1960's was a period of experimentation for a new interpretation of the vessel". **

  • Surprisingly, Nagle went in the opposite direction of Peter Voulkos. Instead of making huge "rugged" pieces, Nagle made small and colorful sculptures.
