Author

The name of the author is Richard Peck. He's 79 years of age and was born April 10, 1934. He began his career as a high school teacher, but after a while, he decided to cut his career short and write. Over a 41 year period he wrote a book for every year, making it 41 books. He is known for his modern young adult literature as an American novelist. He is most known for his novel 'A Year Down Yonder'.

The main theme is bullying because the whole story talks about how the Kobras are bullying everyone and nobody would stand up for themselves. But later in the story when the Kobras are picking on Priscilla’s only friend she confronts them and sets them straight. At that point in the story people realize no matter How big or small you are you can always stick up for you or someone else you know.

setting

This story took place inside the school within the hallways. Throughout the story the main Kobra was placed in a locker. Also the story describes kids running in and out of classrooms and on they’re way to the bathroom. At the end of the story it described that there was a snowstorm that trapped the Kobra in the school.

In the short story “Priscilla and the wimps” the antagonist is

the Kobras because throughout the story they bully Melvin because he is small. "Let's call it a pass for very short people, a dwarf tax."(Richard 2) This shows that the Kobras were the main part of the conflict so that makes them the antagonist.

Character

The conflict is man vs. man and is caused by one of the gang members named Monk when he bully's a kid named Melvin because he is short. The Kobras thought that it was okay to bully people that were different. “He reaches down and grabs little Melvin by the neck and slams his head against his locker door.” (peck 2) This tells the reader that the kobras are bully's towards other people.

The protagonist is Priscilla because she is the one that helps Melvin when he’s being picked on and stops the Kobras, which are the antagonist from hurting him. “ Who’s your leader, wimp” This is what Priscilla said in the story when she confronted the Kobras was helping Melvin.
