The most significant thing I have learned from this online careers course is how to properly market myself and sell myself. In today's increasingly diverse and competitive market it is often very difficult to find employment. The best way to find a job is by selling yourself and showing employers that you are worth the hire. The assignments that helped me learn this skill most were the resume and cover making assignment, and the seven questions assignment. Both of these were directly related to applying for a job. They explained how exactly I can present myself and make my achievements and skills look as good as possible. Along with this skill, I have also learned a variety of other things. The parents task assignment taught me about the many employee rights that are required. It explained the concept of minimum wage, and outlined other rights that employees have. I also learned many things about myself. I have learned my skills, weaknesses, goals, etc. All of this information will help me greatly with future career planning because I now know what I may be good at and what I enjoy. The skills will help me with finding a career because they have taught me how to apply, make a resume and cover letter, and answer interview questions. In general, this course has taught me very much about my future career plan and the world of work in general. I am very glad I had the opportunity to complete this course and will certainly keep in mind all that I have learned. Hopefully these goals are just a little further down the road...
This careers course has helped me decide a few future career goals. One of these goals is becoming a professional architect. To achieve this goal, I am planning to do very well in high school, so I can get into a good university. Once I complete a good university, I am more likely to be hired as an architect. For example, I can apply to Harvard and if I am accepted, I will have better luck as a professional architect. Another goal of mine is to eventually be self employed. This goal will come after working as an architect for many years. After being hired for an architect, my goal is to start my own architecture firm to work my own hours and employ others. A strategy to achieve this goal is by doing co op in high school at an architecture company. This will give me information on whether or not I want to become an architect after seeing what it is like. My final goal is to make a good amount of money and buy a nice house. I never want money to be an issue in my life. To achieve this goal of financial stability, I can be sure to never spend money unnecessarily. I should always be careful with where I invest, so I can usually make money as opposed to lose it. These are just a few of the many goals I have decided for myself throughout this careers course.
