The Hiwassee River Basin

Whats not to love? Everyone will have a blast! the mountains provide unforgettable hiking adventures. The forest provide great camping spots. The amount of rare plants and animals is a sight to see. The kids can participate in hands on activities and learn how to help restore the water basin! when you leave you'll know everything there is to know about the water basin!

Plants and aquatic life

The Hiwassee River Basin contains 72 plant and animal species that are either endangered or rare.This river basin also contains lots of trees and forest around it. If you visit this river basin you may encounter the Christy's Elimia freshwater snail that has been found nowhere else in the world! You can also encounter the Sicklefin Redhorse, a rare sucker fish.

Wheres the best place to enjoy your free time?

The Hiwassee River! It runs through Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina! There are many cities and municipalities along the river which include Andrews, Hayesville and Murphy.
